What is Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE)
Uterine fibroid embolization (UFE) is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat symptomatic fibroids in the uterus. During the procedure, a small catheter or tube is navigated into the arteries supplying the fibroids through a tiny hole in your wrist or groin while you are sedated. Small particles are then injected into the arteries supplying the fibroids which subsequently shrink in size and relieve your symptoms. Recovery time is typically just 1 week, and you will have minimal to no scarring since there is no incision with these minimally invasive techniques.
